From the Pastor’s Desk

10/12/2024

Over the past week I have been involved in several conversations where a statement similar to this was made: “I am tired of following the path of a storm.” We have fixed our eyes on cones for the eye of a hurricane, projected wind speeds, rainfall totals, and landfall times. I am weary of fixing my eyes on a storm.

We all have things that occur in life in which we fix our eyes and focus on. However, as believers we are to start by fixing our eyes on Christ. I am looking forward to discussing that with you on Sunday - “Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, 2 keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.”  (Heb 12:1–2)

Remember the following events in the life of our church:

Psalm 139:13-16

“For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well. My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began.”

We are reminded in Psalm 139 that God knit us together in our mother’s womb. At Hopeful Baptist Church, we believe that life begins at conception. God creates all life, God values all life, and God desires for all lives to come to a saving faith in His Son Jesus Christ.

We are studying stories of faith on Sunday morning from the book of Hebrews. I am encouraged by stories of faithful missionaries, like the Judson family. Adoniram and Ann Judson served as missionaries to Burma. They served for almost 40 years living among and witnessing to the Burmese people. Judson experienced many difficulties during his time in Burma, from imprisonment to torture, but stayed faithful to the call on his life to reach the people of Burma for Christ. This Sunday we will look at the faithful lives of Noah, Abraham, and Sarah this Sunday.

As believers in Christ, we are called to faithfulness. A faith that leads us to trust in God and His Word. I pray that you are growing in faith in the Lord and His Son Jesus Christ.

There are several studies for men and women going on at Hopeful Baptist Church. If you have an interest, check out our events page at www.hopefulbaptist.com/events

I love to hear amazing stories from the past. Learning history has always been a passion of mine. One of my favorite places to learn about history is in the Word of God, and Hebrews 11 is a chapter that is full of history. Often called the “faith chapter,” Hebrews 11 encourages believers to remember the faith of those in the Old Testament as they live for the Lord. I am ready to start Hebrews 11 with you.

We are kicking off a few studies for men and women over the next few weeks. If you have an interest, check out our events page at www.hopefulbaptist.com/events

This Sunday I will be preaching from Hebrews 11:1-6, “Hall of Faith Introduction.”

Looking forward to worshiping with you  on Sunday at 8:30 and 10:45 AM!

Our fall launch has been tremendous at Hopeful Baptist Church. The energy on Sunday and Wednesday has been awesome. The Lord has blessed us with the opportunity to baptize new believers, connect with  new people worshiping with us, and continue to disciple our faithful church members. I want to encourage you to find someone on Sunday that is new to you and introduce yourself. Get to know them and make them feel welcome and included in our faith family.

This Sunday I will be preaching from Hebrews 10:26-39, “Faithful Obedience.”

Looking forward to worshiping with you  on Sunday at 8:30 and 10:45 AM!

There are some subjects that I am more passionate about than others. I love to talk about my family and college football, just to name a few. However, talking about the local church is a subject I could talk about for hours upon hours. Jesus gave His life for the church. The local church is plan A to reach the world with the Gospel, there is no plan B. I am so excited to talk about the local church with you this Sunday.
